yeah what he said… its wired that way. thats where you are pulling your power from. the switch has to be on.
go to home depot because thats their brand. get a new remote kit that will allow you to turn off your light via the remote. turn the light off, on, and dim along with changing the fan settings all from your remote. its a very easy fix.
